2026 Garden Competition Winners Announced
We're delighted to reveal the winners of the Halton Housing Garden Competition 2026 and celebrate the hard work, creativity and community spirit shown by our green-fingered customers.
The Garden Competition continues to be a firm favourite among customers, and we're delighted to keep it going year after year. It's a great way to celebrate our green-fingered residents while encouraging everyone to take pride in their gardens, balconies and shared outdoor spaces.
This year's competition was full of fantastic entries, from colourful private gardens to thriving shared spaces. Our judges were impressed by the pride residents take in making their outdoor areas beautiful, welcoming and enjoyable for everyone.
Individual Garden Winner
Congratulations to Julia from Peel House Lane, who has been crowned our 2026 Individual Garden Winner.
Julia's garden caught the judges' attention with its vibrant flowers, neat appearance and year-round appeal. It's a wonderful example of how a little care and dedication can create a truly special outdoor space.
Communal Garden Winner
Our 2026 Communal Garden Award goes to Hazlehurst Communal Garden.
The garden is lovingly cared for by Peter, Margaret and Steve, with support from other residents. The judges were impressed not only by how attractive the garden looks, but also by the strong community spirit behind it. It's a fantastic example of neighbours coming together to create a space everyone can enjoy.
Young Gardeners Award
This year also saw the launch of our brand-new Young Gardeners Award, celebrating children and families who are discovering a love for gardening and the outdoors.
The first-ever winners are Jessie and her daughters, Edie, Olive and Dottie, from Abbey Road. Their creative garden features The Three Ghouls Pumpkin Patch, named after the three girls, where they grow their own food. It also includes an imaginative play area, complete with a playhouse made from reclaimed wooden pallets. The judges loved the family's enthusiasm, creativity and teamwork in making the most of their outdoor space.
Georgina Crank, Social Impact and Engagement Officer at Halton Housing, said: "The standard of entries this year was fantastic and it was clear to see how much pride our customers take in their gardens and shared spaces.
Congratulations to all our winners, and thank you to everyone who entered. Whether you're growing colourful borders, helping to look after a communal garden or encouraging young people to get involved outdoors, you're helping to make our neighbourhoods greener, brighter and more welcoming. It was especially wonderful to introduce the Young Gardeners Award this year and celebrate families who are inspiring the next generation of green fingers."
A huge thank you to everyone who entered. We loved seeing so many beautiful gardens and community spaces, and we can't wait to see what our talented gardeners achieve in 2027!
