Halton Housing Funding Helps Second Story Recovery CIC Strengthen Volunteer Skills and Support
We're proud to have supported Second Story Recovery CIC with funding to help strengthen the skills, knowledge and resources of their dedicated volunteers, enabling them to provide even greater support to people across Halton and surrounding areas.
Second Story Recovery CIC received £2,486 to invest in a range of accredited training opportunities and essential equipment for their volunteer team.
The funding will be used to provide:
• First Aid training for four volunteers
• Food Hygiene Level 3 training for three volunteers
• Trauma Informed Training for four volunteers
• Addiction Counselling training for four volunteers
• Fire Safety Training for four volunteers
• A new laptop to support service delivery and administration
Second Story Recovery CIC supports people affected by addiction, mental health challenges and homelessness through the power of lived experience. Their peer-led groups and programmes help individuals build connections, improve wellbeing and take positive steps towards the next chapter of their story.
By investing in volunteer development, the organisation can continue to deliver safe, informed and effective support for local people, while creating opportunities for volunteers to gain valuable qualifications and confidence.
Georgina Crank, Social Impact and Engagement Officer at Halton Housing, said:
"We're delighted to support Second Story with funding that will help develop the skills, confidence and capacity of their volunteer team. The training and equipment funded through this grant will strengthen the fantastic work they already do, supporting people affected by addiction, mental health challenges and homelessness. Investing in volunteers means investing in the future of the community, and we're proud to play a part in helping Second Story CIC continue making a real difference across Halton."
The project supports our commitment to helping communities thrive by improving access to wellbeing support, reducing isolation and empowering local people to make a positive difference in the lives of others. Supporting initiatives like this forms part of our ongoing commitment to building stronger, healthier communities and improving people's lives across Halton.
