Halton Housing Named Employer of the Year at Halton Business Awards 2026
We are proud to have been named Employer of the Year 2026 at this year’s Halton Business Awards, in recognition of our commitment to our people and workplace culture.
The award, sponsored by Liverpool John Moores University Business School, celebrates organisations that demonstrate excellence in employee engagement, development and wellbeing, while creating a positive and supportive working environment.
We were shortlisted alongside strong competition from Cheshire Industrial Doors Ltd, Support at Home and Weststone Construction, reflecting the high standard of employers across the borough. We were also proud to be shortlisted in the Commitment to the Community Award, recognising our wider impact across Halton.
Earlier this year, we were also proud to once again retain our ‘We Invest in People’ Gold accreditation and achieve a Gold ‘We Invest in Wellbeing’ Standard from Investors in People (IIP), building on our previous full assessment in 2023. This recognition highlighted several strengths across the organisation, including our enhanced PDR framework, strong values culture, commitment to talent development through programmes such as Thrive, and our holistic approach to wellbeing, diversity and inclusion.
As a ‘people first’ organisation employing more than 300 colleagues across a wide range of roles, we are committed to creating an environment where people feel supported to grow, thrive and make a difference in the communities we serve.
The award was presented by Halton Chamber of Commerce, who recognised the strength of local businesses and highlighted our commitment to supporting our workforce. Winning Employer of the Year reflects our continued investment in our people — from training and development opportunities to fostering an inclusive, supportive culture where colleagues can thrive.
The awards evening, held at Halton Stadium in Widnes on Friday 12th June, brought together colleagues from across Halton Housing, including several who have dedicated more than 20 years of service to the organisation, making the achievement even more special.
This recognition underlines our strong values — being honest, dynamic and caring — and our commitment to delivering high-quality services through a motivated and engaged workforce. It also reflects our ambition in Our Future Focus 25–28 to deliver “passionate people achieving great outcomes,” with a clear emphasis on development, inclusion, recognition and values-based leadership through our Great People priority.
With more than 50% of our colleagues living in Halton, this award is a proud moment for us all and reinforces our position as an employer of choice in the region.
