Halton Housing is kicking off Learning at Work Week (LAWW) 2026 with the launch of an exciting new initiative designed to open doors, spark curiosity, and inspire the next generation of talent across Halton.

This week, we’re welcoming seven young people from local schools to take part in our first-ever Workplace Safari - a fiveday immersive experience giving students a behindthescenes look at how we support our customers and communities every day.

Throughout the week, the students will shadow colleagues across the organisation, spending time with teams in:

  • Neighbourhoods
  • Customer Service
  • Development
  • Repairs & Maintenance
  • Digital & Data
  • Community Investment
  • Corporate Services

The aim is simple: to show young people the breadth of careers available within the housing sector, help them build confidence and skills, and give them a real sense of how a modern housing provider works to make a difference.

Championing a Learning Culture

Learning at Work Week is always a highlight in our calendar, because at Halton Housing we believe that learning isn’t a oneoff event, it’s part of who we are.

This commitment is reflected in our corporate plan, Our Future Focus 25–28, where one of our key priorities is Great People. We’re dedicated to creating an environment where colleagues can grow, develop, and thrive, and where learning is encouraged at every stage of their career.

Across the organisation, colleagues have access to a wide range of development opportunities, from apprenticeships and professional qualifications to leadership programmes, digital skills training, and peertopeer learning. We encourage everyone to take ownership of their growth, explore new ideas, and build the skills they need for the future.

This year’s theme gives us the perfect moment to celebrate that culture, and to extend it beyond our walls by investing in young people in our community.

Looking Ahead

The Workplace Safari is just the beginning. We’re committed to strengthening our partnerships with local schools and creating more opportunities for young people to explore careers, gain experience, and see the impact they can have in their own communities.

We can’t wait to see what our first cohort of students discover this week and the paths they choose next.

Watch this space as we share more LAWW updates throughout the week.
