This week we've celebrated Learning at Work Week 2026, and what a week it's been!

One of the highlights of the week has been welcoming our first ever Workplace Safari students. They’ve spent the past few days exploring different teams across Halton Housing, getting a real feel for the huge variety of careers in our sector. The warm welcome and support from colleagues made their experience even more valuable, and it’s been fantastic to see their confidence grow as they discovered new areas of work.

We've also taken the opportunity to celebrate our long-standing partnership with Riverside College, where we offer work placements to students studying City & Guilds qualifications across a range of trades.

Alongside all this activity, we brought together apprentices, colleagues working towards professional qualifications, and those taking part in specialist training programmes for a relaxed coffee‑and‑cake catch‑up. It was a lovely chance to recognise their hard work, hear about their learning journeys, and celebrate the energy they bring to developing their skills.

From housing and customer service apprenticeships to leadership programmes, technical qualifications, and sector‑specific training, our learners show exactly what Learning at Work Week is all about: curiosity, ambition, and a real drive to keep improving.

This celebration also ties closely to one of the key priorities in our corporate plan, Our Future Focus 25–28: Great People.

We know that when our colleagues grow, Halton Housing grows. Whether someone is just starting out or building on years of experience, supporting learning at every stage helps us strengthen our organisation and continue delivering great services for our customers.

Learning at Work Week gives us a great moment to pause and celebrate, but our commitment to developing our people carries on all year, and we look forward to welcoming more Workplace Safari students later in the year.
