14% of UK emissions come from the energy used in homes; this means our homes have an important part to play in reducing our carbon footprint

Making your home more energy efficient will cut costs in the long run and make it a warmer and more comfortable place to live. By reducing your energy usage, you'll cut your carbon emissions and do your bit for the environment too.

Action you can take:

  • Switch to a renewable tariff and review it at the end of every fixed period.

  • Install a smart meter to really understand the cost of the energy you are using in your home

  • Switch off what you are not using, don’t just leave it on standby.

  • Learn how to use your thermostat and thermostatic radiator valves (if you have them) to control the heating around your home.

  • Use energy efficient lightbulbs

  • When replacing household appliances, buy the most efficient new appliance you can.

Explore more ways to make your home more energy efficient and remember to share your good ideas on greener ways to use energy your home with family, friends and colleagues.
