Investing in Better Homes on the Grange Estate

We have completed a major programme of improvements to three low-rise blocks on the Grange Estate in Runcorn, helping to create warmer, more comfortable and energy-efficient homes for customers. The project formed part of a pilot programme supported through government funding from the Social Housing Decarbonisation Fund.

Improving Energy Efficiency

The programme focused on reducing the amount of energy needed to heat homes while improving comfort for residents. Works included new insulation, modern controllable heating systems, low-energy lighting, solar PV panels and a centralised ventilation system designed to improve air quality and reduce the risk of condensation, damp and mould.

Comprehensive Home Improvements

Alongside the energy efficiency works, a wide range of improvements were carried out to enhance the appearance, safety and condition of the buildings. These included new energy-efficient windows and external doors, roof improvements, new fascias and gutters, enclosed balconies and upgraded security features. Environmental improvements and building fabric repairs were also completed to improve outdoor spaces and protect the buildings for the future.

Supporting Customers and Sustainability

A key element of the project was the installation of solar PV panels, helping generate renewable energy and reduce electricity costs for customers. Combined with the new insulation and heating systems, these improvements support lower energy consumption, reduced carbon emissions and more affordable homes to run.

Making a Difference for Customers

The Grange Pilot Project demonstrates how targeted investment can improve both homes and communities. By taking a whole-house approach to energy efficiency improvements, we have enhanced comfort, improved building performance and created homes that are better equipped for the future.

Investing in What Matters Most

This project is another example of our commitment to investing in customers' homes and neighbourhoods. By combining external funding with our own investment, we continue to deliver improvements that help customers live in homes that are safe, comfortable, energy efficient and fit for the future.
