Halton Housing has proudly donated £1,025 to a community initiative in Runcorn helping to tackle isolation and loneliness.

The award-winning ‘Eat @ The Heath’ meetings are aimed at over 50’s to help get out of the house and enjoy some social time – a fantastic opportunity to meet new people and to make new friends.

During the first year, the scheme has grown massively and now accommodates up to 80 people weekly and over 100 monthly for larger events. This wouldn't be possible without volunteers and the commitment from owners and operators of The Heath Business and Technical Park, ‘SOG Group’ and Cheshire Police.

Staff and local police community support officers are on site to welcome and introduce new people, and for anyone struggling for transport, Eat @ The Heath offers a local minibus pick up and drop off (limited spaces available – contact Eat @ The Heath for details).

Louise Croft, a PCSO for Runcorn Police, who helps organise ‘Eat @ The Heath’ commented on Halton Housing’s donation: “This year Halton Housing has helped with funding, for which we are extremely grateful. The money will help with the purchase of a new indoor bowls set for our attendees and the ongoing support of the scheme, to continue helping those who struggle with isolation and loneliness.”

Cheryl McCabe, Halton Housing’s Social Impact and Engagement Manager said: “We are pleased to support Eat @ The Heath and Runcorn Police. It’s a great community resource which brings people together, promoting wellbeing and reducing loneliness.”
