Helping Hands Award Keeps Pexhill Tigers U8s Girls Warm This Winter
The Pexhill Tigers U8s Girls Football Team is celebrating after we awarded them funding through our Helping Hands programme. This support has helped the team buy new winter training coats and dry robes to keep the girls warm during the colder months.
The team trains all year round at Wade Deacon High School, but training can be tough in winter because of the cold and rain. Their coach applied to Helping Hands so every player could stay warm, comfortable, and confident at training and on matchdays.
One parent told us how much the new kit is already helping:
“The girls love the training coats and dry robes. It keeps them warm for training and matchdays which makes it more enjoyable for them, and it also makes them feel part of a team as they're all dressed the same. Thank you so much to Halton Housing for the kind donation for the team.”
Helping Hands offers small grants to local community groups and projects that make a difference in Halton. All funding decisions are made by our Customer Forum, so customers help choose which projects receive support.
Georgina Crank, Social Impact and Engagement Officer, said:
“It’s fantastic to see the positive impact this funding is having. Supporting young people to stay active, engaged and confident is exactly what Helping Hands is designed to do.”
The winter kit will also be passed down to younger Pexhill teams in future seasons, helping even more local children stay warm and enjoy sport.
