We are proud to support Transform Widnes’ Long Loaf project with a donation of £1,000 in ASDA vouchers. This support is part of our Destination Kingsway / Stewards programme, which focuses on bringing people together and improving health and wellbeing.

Long Loaf is a free lunch held every Wednesday at St Paul’s Church Hall in Widnes. People come together to share a hot meal, hear a short thought for the day, and enjoy friendly conversation. It’s all about kindness, connection, and caring for those who may feel lonely or need support.

The team gets food from FareShare, but sometimes they need extra ingredients to make healthy, tasty meals. Our vouchers will help them buy what they need so they can keep serving meals that warm hearts and fill plates.

Through our Destination Kingsway / Stewards survey, residents told us they wanted more ways to feel part of the community and more focus on health and wellbeing. We’re helping by backing projects that make that happen.

Transform Widnes also runs other great projects:

  • Transform Minds – Mental health support through counselling and group sessions. Email penny.stradling@transformwidnes.church to apply or volunteer.
  • Connect Café – Every Friday at St Paul’s Church (10:30am–12:30pm). Enjoy drinks, cake, and conversation in a friendly space. Suggested donation: £1. Email steve.shuttleworth@transformwidnes.church for details.
  • Transform Kids – Fun and creative activities for families. Read more here.

Georgina Crank, Social Impact and Engagement Officer, said: “Long Loaf shows how food can bring people together. We’re delighted to help the team keep cooking up kindness every week.”
