Earlier this month, colleagues from across Halton Housing joined forces to revitalise the outdoor spaces around Houghton Street Flats in Widnes, as part of our Spruce Up Your Streets initiative—much to the delight of local residents.

Activities included the installation of two brand-new benches, raised planters, and vibrant hanging baskets, creating a more welcoming and colourful communal area.

Our Environmental Services team also led a full grounds tidy-up, tackling moss removal in the drying area and carrying out a litter pick to refresh the space.

To further support residents, a skip was provided to help those living in both Houghton and Norland dispose of bulky waste and unwanted items—contributing to a cleaner, more pleasant environment for everyone.

Our Spruce Up Your Streets events are all about working together with residents, partners and local organisations to tackle litter, brighten up shared spaces and take pride in our communities.
