Halton Housing recently made a commitment to work with local companies to help deliver new homes. Liverpool-based, AKM Homes, will construct the site on behalf of Halton Housing.

The site, which has been vacant for some time was previously occupied by Express Dairies and had become a target for fly tipping and anti-social behaviour.

A ground-breaking ceremony took place at the site yesterday with representatives from Halton Housing and AKM Homes, to mark the start of construction.

Director of Development and Growth at Halton Housing, Paul Mullane said: “We’re really excited to see construction starting. This site has lay empty for some time now and will be put back into use by building quality affordable homes to meet demand in the area.”

Andy Walker, Construction Director at AKM Homes added: “AKM Homes are delighted to be able to commence construction works on site and are looking forward to continuing working together with Halton Housing to deliver much needed affordable homes within the borough. This is an exciting project and a great opportunity to expand our portfolio of work.”

Halton Housing secured funding from Homes England for this development and is our first scheme to be delivered through the Affordable Homes Programme (2021 – 2026)

The development forms part of Halton Housing’s ambitions to develop further circa 1000 news homes by 2028. Completion is estimated for spring 2024.
