Our Decarbonisation Strategic Lead, Georgina Patel recently joined the Carbon Literacy Project to talk about the success of the carbon literacy training at Halton Housing during the National Housing Federation Housing Governance Conference 2022.

The conference provided governance teams across the social housing sector with the latest legal, policy and regulatory updates and examples of best practice and delivery.

As an organisation, Halton Housing has been awarded Bronze Carbon Literate accreditation by The Carbon Literacy Trust, as part of our commitment towards sustainability and drive to become net-zero by 2050 or sooner. 

During Georgina's presentation at the conference, she discussed the importance of getting buy-in from the Senior Leadership and Board from the start to ensure everyone is on board. 

Using the Carbon Literacy Trust's social housing toolkit, and adapting the resource for Halton Housing, Georgina has delivered the 1-day training session to almost half of the workforce already.
