Transform Kids Project Brings Fun and Friendship to Kingsway/Stewards Families
A local project in Widnes is helping children and families enjoy more play, fun, and time together, thanks to support from our Destination Kingsway/Stewards programme.
We’ve given £1,000 to Transform Widnes to support their Transform Tots group. This group runs friendly, welcoming activities for young children and their parents in the Kingsway/Stewards, Riverside, and Appleton areas. The funding will help pay for toys, equipment, and trips, making it easier for families to join in.
This support is part of our Destination Kingsway/Stewards programme. When we asked residents what they wanted, many said there weren’t enough places for children to play or ways to feel part of the community. We’re working to change that by supporting projects that bring people together and help everyone feel included.
Transform Widnes already runs two popular groups:
- Transform Tots – a parent and toddler group
- Youth by the Park – a youth group with creative and social activities
Together, these groups welcome around 75 children and parents every week, giving them safe spaces to play, make friends, and grow.
Georgina Crank, Social Impact and Engagement Officer at Halton Housing, said: “We’re proud to support Transform Kids through our Destination Kingsway/Stewards programme. It’s a great example of how local groups can make a big difference. By funding projects like this, we’re helping children thrive and families feel supported.”
