Hazlehurst, our new independent living scheme

Hazlehurst is a contemporary new 100-apartment independent living scheme for over 55s, consisting of four one-bedroom apartments, 52 two-bedroom apartments for Affordable Rent and 44 two-bedroom apartments for Shared Ownership.

The modern apartments, located on Actons Wood Lane in Sandymoor, feature a range of facilities including a bistro and multi-function room, available to residents of Sandymoor and the wider community.

The stylish development is named after local businessman, Thomas Hazlehurst, who founded soap and alkali manufacturing company, Hazlehurst & Sons, in 1816. Hazlehurst’s soap manufacturing factory was established on the north bank of the Bridgewater Canal, on land between the canal and High Street. 
 

Location

Hazlehurst is nestled in the beautiful, leafy area of Sandymoor, an affluent civil parish in Runcorn and lies approximately three miles east of Runcorn town centre, four miles south-west from Warrington town centre and two miles north of the M56 motorway.

Hazlehurst offers three main apartment types: The Aspen, The Chestnut, and The Oak. Each apartment type offers two layouts, a standard or a corner, and residents have the choice of a patio area, with upper floors having a Juliet balcony or a balcony.

Hazlehurst offers the opportunity for you to rent (subject to eligibility) an apartment or buy through Shared Ownership.

There are four one-bedroom and 52 two-bedroom apartments at Hazlehurst are available for Affordable Rent.

You must register with Property Pool Plus to be considered for affordable rent.

Shared Ownership

44 two-bedroom apartments are available for Shared Ownership (A way to buy your home if you can’t afford to buy it outright).

Based on what you can afford, you buy a share in a home and pay a reduced rent on the rest. A housing association (in this instance Halton Housing) owns the share that you rent.
