Moo and a Brew – Building The Village
About Moo and a Brew
Moo and a Brew is a community-focused play café in Widnes town centre, run by local mums with a passion for supporting families. The café offers a welcoming, safe space for parents and carers to connect, relax, and access support. Through free drop-in sessions like New Mama Meets, Infant Feeding, Weaning Workshops, Dad Matters, and Yoga for Mum & Baby, Moo and a Brew helps families build their support networks and feel less isolated.
Their mission is simple but powerful: to help parents “build their village” and create a home-away-from-home where adult interaction and community connection are always available.
The Project: Building The Village
With support from Halton Housing’s 20 for 20 campaign, Moo and a Brew will expand its programme of free community drop-ins and wellbeing sessions. The funding will cover venue hire, staff costs, free drinks for attendees, yoga instructors, staff training, and equipment refreshes—ensuring the café remains a vibrant and inclusive space for families.
The project will allow Moo and a Brew to continue offering vital support to new parents, while also introducing new sessions that respond to the evolving needs of the community.
Community Impact
The initiative will benefit parents, carers, babies, and young children from Widnes, Runcorn, and surrounding areas. By providing a safe, welcoming environment and free access to support, Moo and a Brew helps reduce isolation, improve mental wellbeing, and foster stronger family connections.
The café has already made a meaningful difference—recently supporting new mums who felt safe enough to open up about their struggles. With this funding, Moo and a Brew can continue to be a lifeline for families navigating early parenthood.
Working Together with Halton Housing
Moo and a Brew is keen to strengthen its relationship with Halton Housing and collaborate on community services that support families. By working together, they can reach more residents and ensure that no parent feels alone on their journey.
