Rape and Sexual Abuse Support Centre (RASASC) – Expanding Specialist Counselling in Halton
About RASASC
The has been supporting survivors of sexual violence across Cheshire and Merseyside since 1995. What began as a grassroots initiative in Warrington has grown into a vital regional service, with nine community-based centres and over 50 dedicated staff. RASASC offers free, specialist counselling and advocacy to women, men, children, and young people, with services accredited by BACP and LimeCulture to ensure the highest standards of care.
Their mission is clear: We listen, we believe, and we support.
The Project: Expanding Counselling for Survivors in Halton
With support from Halton Housing’s 20 for 20 campaign, RASASC will deliver 20 additional hours of specialist counselling to survivors in Halton. This funding will help meet rising demand, reduce waiting times, and ensure timely access to trauma-informed care for those in crisis. The sessions will support children, young people, and adults — offering a safe space to begin healing.
Community Impact
RASASC supported over 4,000 survivors last year, 24% of whom were under 17. This project will directly benefit Halton residents, including Halton Housing customers, by providing life-changing support to those affected by sexual violence. Behind every counselling session is a person rebuilding their life — whether it’s a teenager navigating trauma, a parent seeking peace of mind, or a child learning to feel safe again.
“My counsellor helped me feel more normal again and like myself.” – Male, age 17
