Halton Housing is proud to mark our 20th anniversary, celebrating two decades of Improving People’s Lives since becoming Halton Housing in 2005 following the stock transfer of homes from Halton Borough Council.

Over the past 20 years, we have achieved significant milestones, from building new homes and modernising existing ones, to strengthening partnerships that improve lives across Halton and beyond.

This anniversary is not only a celebration of our achievements but also a tribute to the dedication of colleagues, customers, and partners who have been part of the journey.

Sam Scott, Chief Executive of Halton Housing, said: "Turning 20 is a remarkable milestone for Halton Housing. It’s a moment to reflect on how far we’ve come, the challenges we’ve overcome, and the opportunities we’ve embraced. Most importantly, it’s about recognising the people – our customers, colleagues, and partners – who have made this journey possible. Together, we’ve built more than homes; we’ve built thriving communities, and I’m excited about what the next 20 years will bring."

Neil McGrath, Deputy Chief Executive, added: "I remember signing the papers back in 2005 that officially created Halton Housing. To see how much we’ve achieved since then is truly inspiring. From those early days to now, our focus has always been on delivering for our customers and communities. I’m incredibly proud of the organisation we’ve become and the difference we continue to make every day."

What started as a bold step in 2005 has become a thriving organisation that puts people at the heart of everything we do. It’s been a privilege to witness the transformation, to work alongside such dedicated colleagues, and to know that together we’ve made a real difference to thousands of lives. Celebrating 20 years isn’t just about looking back, it’s about being proud of the journey and excited for what’s still to come."

Looking ahead, we remain committed to providing quality homes and services and working hand in hand with communities to create a brighter future. 

In April this year, we launched our new Corporate Plan: Our Future Focus 25-28, setting out ambitious priorities for the years ahead. This plan outlines our commitment to building more homes, enhancing customer services, and continuing to invest in communities.

To mark the anniversary, we brought together all our 300+ colleagues from across the organisation, for a day of reflection and celebration. 

Some of our long-standing customers and members of the Customer Forum have also been sharing what 20 years of Halton Housing means to them. Interviews capturing their personal reflections and experiences highlight the organisation’s lasting impact – you can watch these here. 

In addition, as part of the celebrations for our anniversary year we launched our special ‘20 for 20’ initiative – awarding £1,000 to 20 local groups and projects to mark 20 years of transforming lives. The beneficiaries of this initiative have now been revealed, showcasing the diverse community organisations making a difference across Halton. As we celebrate this milestone, we're excited for the next stage of our journey. 

Building on the strong foundations of the past 20 years, Halton Housing will continue working hand in hand with the partners, colleagues, and customers who have shaped our story so far, while welcoming new voices and opportunities as we move forward.

Together, the focus remains on creating thriving communities, delivering quality homes, and Improving People’s Lives for generations to come.
