Meet Dan, our Carpentry and Joinery Apprentice

Dan is one of our two Carpentry and Joinery Apprentices. Learn about Dan and how he's getting on in his apprenticeship.
Why did you choose to do an apprenticeship?
I applied for an apprenticeship so that I could gain the experience of working and doing the job whilst gaining the qualification and learning the theoretical skills during college.
What you do in a typical day/week?
A typical week consists of completing jobs such as boxing in services, hanging doors, fitting worktops and a variety of maintenance jobs on Halton Housing homes.
What do you enjoy most about your apprenticeship?
Being around experienced tradesmen, not only joiners but also a variety of other tradesmen that we work closely with.
What skills have you developed so far during your apprenticeship?
I have developed my skills with tools as well as being able to work competently with power tools. Over the course of my apprenticeship so far, I have learnt a vast amount of joinery from hanging doors, to fitting kitchens alongside my colleagues.
Why did you choose Halton Housing?
I chose Halton housing due to its positive reputation in the local area.
What would you say to someone considering applying for an apprenticeship?
Do it! It is a very good opportunity to gain experience in the role you want to study and work with other tradesmen on a daily basis.
