Meet Emma, our IT Apprentice

Apprentice Emma Davies
Text

Why did you choose to do an apprenticeship?

After completing a year at university, I realised that it was not for me and decided that an apprenticeship would be more suited to my skills and ways of working. I believe learning on the job is the best way to develop your skills as you learn from the people around you who already have the needed experience.

What you do in a typical day/week?

Every fortnight, I attend college on a Monday where I work towards getting my Information Communications Technician, Level: 3 qualification. The rest of the week I work alongside the service desk team to help people within the company with their IT queries.

What do you enjoy most about your apprenticeship?

What I enjoy most about my apprenticeship is that I get to work within a well-organised team, who provide me with the best support to develop my knowledge and skills.

What skills have you developed so far during your apprenticeship?

I have developed better communication and teamwork skills, as I have been working with the service desk I have been able to speak to different people across the business regarding their issues.

Why did you choose Halton Housing?

I chose Halton Housing as I was attracted to the company's key values and what they stand for. The company is innovative and passionate about putting its customers at the forefront of everything they do.

What would you say to someone considering applying for an apprenticeship?

I would tell anyone that an apprenticeship is the best opportunity to learn and earn and you should definitely do it if you want to start your career.
