Apprentice in Waterfront Point
Text

Joel is one of our Plumbing and Heating Apprentices and also one of our newest apprentices. See how he is getting on!

Why did you choose to do an apprenticeship?

I really wanted to learn a trade and I think an apprenticeship is the best way to do it!

What you do in a typical day/week?

Through the week I support in carrying out plumbing/heating maintenance which takes up four of my working days and then the other day I attend college.

What do you enjoy most about your apprenticeship?

I enjoy learning about boiler breakdowns and installations but also generally enjoy the hands-on approach of the job.

What skills have you developed so far during your apprenticeship?

I feel like I have improved on my organisation skills as well as social skills since starting at Halton Housing.

Why did you choose Halton Housing?

I chose Halton Housing as I have already worked for the company before and understand it’s a great opportunity to work for a well-run company with many benefits personally and professionally.

What would you say to someone considering applying for an apprenticeship?

I would highly recommend applying for an apprenticeship to someone debating it, it’s good to be constantly learning new skills and understanding how things work in your chosen career.
