Meet Michael, our IT Apprentice

Michael Tinsley

Why did you choose to do an apprenticeship? 

I believe that this apprenticeship is my first stepping stone into a successful career in IT, and I prefer to gain hands on day-to-day work experience while also achieving a college qualification. 

What you do in a typical day/week? 

I am currently supporting the Digital Transformation Team with the new Customer Relationship Management project which is a great learning opportunity. I will soon be moving on to work with the Service Desk Team. 

What do you enjoy most about your apprenticeship? 

I enjoy helping the various teams within IT and getting to understand what each of them does, as well as learning more about the organisation and how it supports customers. 

What skills have you developed so far during your apprenticeship? 

I have learned so much already! To name a few, I have been working on process mapping, ticket management/support, team working, communication skills and customer service skills.   

Why did you choose Halton Housing? 

I chose Halton Housing because I really enjoyed my time during my work experience. Everyone was so kind and welcoming - it gave me an insight into what I want to do in the future. 

What would you say to someone considering applying for an apprenticeship? 

I would encourage anyone to apply for an apprenticeship as you get day-to-day work experience as well as a qualification at the end of the apprenticeship.
