Meet Olivia, our Business Administrator Apprentice

Olivia is our Business Administrator Apprentice! Learn about Olivia and and how she's finding her apprenticeship.
Why did you choose to do an apprenticeship?
My focus is to build a career and work my way up from the bottom. An apprenticeship is not something you have to do straight from school at 16 years old, which was ideal for me. Also, learning and getting paid a good apprentice wage while doing so.
What you do in a typical day/week?
My team are currently working on a new computer system, so I am inputting a lot of audits and documents into this to support the team.
On a daily basis I review and update databases and actions, support with organising and ordering of personal protective equipment, meet with various teams to discuss projects we are working on, help with the administration side of organising staff training, attend committee meetings, review risk assessments and going out on site carrying out safety inspections.
What do you enjoy most about your apprenticeship?
I love the flexibility of being able to work how, where and when is most suitable. I also enjoy having the opportunities to take part in training, meetings and site visits. I didn't expect to have these opportunities in my apprenticeship. I also really enjoy meeting new colleagues, everyone always finds the time to help.
What skills have you developed so far during your apprenticeship?
The main skill I’m most proud of developing is IT, I can now use different systems for administration and time management.
Why did you choose Halton Housing?
When applying for my apprenticeship, their online and social media presence portrayed them as a lovely reliable place to work, who appreciate and support their staff.
What would you say to someone considering applying for an apprenticeship?
Do it!! So many great opportunities come with an apprenticeship such as additional qualifications and skills, especially at Halton Housing, who have really invested in my training.
