School uniform can be really expensive for many families, with some parent surveys finding that each year it can cost parents around £300 per child.
With the cost of food, petrol and interest rates at record highs, we want to provide additional support for our customers, to lessen the financial burden of buying school uniform each year.
For customers living in a Halton Housing home, with school age children and on a low income, we may be able to provide funding for school uniform through our school uniform support initiative.. Working in partnership with Travis Perkins we have £6000 of funding available to those who need help getting their children kitted out in time for the new school year.
Citizens Advice Halton will also be supporting the initiative providing admin support to process the scheme, which not only provides uniforms, but allows families across Halton to access support with benefits, debt advice and employability skills to truly improve their lives.
This initiative aims to alleviate the stress and worry many struggling parents will be feeling with children going back to school in September.
Last year's initiative was a huge success, which saw over 100 school children from low-income families across Halton benefit from the scheme.
