How long have you worked for Halton Housing? Nearly 17 years - man & boy

Tell us about your background and what you were doing before joining Halton Housing?

Before HH, I was labouring for a builder that was doing an extension on my parents’ house. I was 16/17 & really liked the idea of getting a trade of some description. Halton college were offering a taster day of trades including bricklaying, joinery, electrics & plumbing. I enjoyed plumbing the most & enrolled on their NVQ level 2 course. A few months into the course, Halton Borough Council were offering 4 plumbing apprenticeships. I had my interview at Halton stadium and I guess the rest is history!

What does customer service mean to you?

For me - it is fundamentally the most important part of the business - without customers there is no business. It's about treating everyone as an individual & striving to meet & excel their expectations. Ensuring we have excellent communication lines & an honest & transparent relationship. 

Tell us an interesting fact about yourself? (as random, fun and crazy as you want!)

I've worked in Uganda twice rebuilding schools & training apprentices - amazing experience!

Where as a customer have you experienced customer service?

When we were getting our garden landscaped & there was a national shortage of materials - many of our local businesses in Halton made every effort to get the materials delivered on time & with minimal delay. Our garden was done - and we've had one week of good weather to enjoy it! Ha ha - always next year!
