As part of our 20th anniversary celebrations this December, we are proud to launch 20 for 20 — a special, one-off initiative designed to give back to the communities we serve.

Through 20 for 20, we’ll be awarding £1,000 each to 20 inspiring community projects or initiatives that are making a real difference locally. This unique opportunity is open to groups and organisations whose work closely aligns with the themes and priorities outlined in our corporate plan, Our Future Focus 25–28 — including building stronger, healthier, and more connected communities.

For the past 20 years, our purpose has been Improving People’s Lives, including creating Thriving Communities. We want our 20 for 20 initiative to reflect that purpose and positively impact our communities as we move forward.

That’s why we’ll be looking for applications from projects or initiatives that work towards:

  • Community Improvements (e.g. community safety, shared spaces)

  • Health and Wellbeing

  • Access to Employment, Skills and Training

  • Opportunities for Children and Young People

  • Promoting Social Inclusion (e.g. loneliness, support groups)

  • Promoting Digital and Online Skills

  • Hardship Support (e.g. welfare, fuel poverty, cost of living)

  • Other impactful community-focused ideas

Sam Scott, Group Chief Executive said:

“Our 20th anniversary is a moment to reflect on how far we’ve come — but more importantly, it’s a chance to look forward and invest in the future of our communities. The 20 for 20 initiative is a powerful way to support the people and projects that share our vision for thriving, inclusive neighbourhoods. We’re proud to stand behind those making a real difference.”

This initiative is in addition to our ongoing Helping Hands fund, which will continue beyond this year. Helping Hands remains available to support individuals and families in need with essential items and support.

Applications for 20 for 20 are now open, and we’re encouraging local charities, grassroots groups, and community-led initiatives to apply. If you know someone who could benefit, please help us spread the word — we want to reach those who are making a positive impact.
