Meet Francis, our Electrical Apprentice

Why did you choose to do an apprenticeship?
I’d heard great things about the organisation and how they support and push their apprentices to be the best they can be.
What do you do in a typical day/week?
I currently work on the void remit, so I carry out EICRs (Electrical Installation Condition Reports) on void properties and complete any remedial work needed. Every day is different - it could be anything from a full fuse board change to wiring in steel-armoured cable.
What do you enjoy most about your apprenticeship?
I enjoy learning something new every day and getting the best advice and guidance from my colleagues. The support they give me makes a huge difference.
What skills have you developed so far during your apprenticeship?
I’ve developed new practical skills needed to become an electrician, and I’ve also gained a better understanding of the science behind electrical work.
Why did you choose Halton Housing?
I chose Halton Housing because of their warm and friendly approach to apprentices. The way they help you grow and develop really stood out to me.
What would you say to someone considering applying for an apprenticeship?
Go for it. It opens up endless opportunities and gives you a real feel for what it’s like to work in the real world.
